Ahead of the March 27 by-election into the Aba North\/South federal
\nconstituency seat, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC),
\nPrince Paul Ikonne, has accused the Chief of the Senator of greed for
\nallegedly imposing his younger brother, Mascot Uzor Kalu, as candidate
\nof the party in the election.<\/p>\n
In a radio programme monitored in Aba, Ikonne, who is the Executive
\nSecretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority,
\nNALDA, noted that Kalu’s immediate younger brother, Nnanna Uzor Kalu,
\nhad represented the constituency from 2003 to 2011, wondering why the
\nformer governor could not support another member of the party.<\/p>\n
The NALDA boss further stated that APC has no candidate in the election,
\nstressing that there was no primary election to elect a candidate to
\nrepresent the party in the poll.<\/p>\n
He alleged that other aspirants were not allowed to purchase nomination
\nforms for the primaries.<\/p>\n
Ikonne said; “Orji Kalu, former governor of the Abia State is taking the
\npeople of Aba for a ride, adding “our mumu done do. The person parading
\nhimself as APC candidate, Mascot Uzor Kalu, is Orji Kalu’s younger
\nbrother. Why will another Kalu represent Aba North\/Aba South people when
\nNnanna Uzor Kalu, the immediate younger brother to Orji, represented the
\nfederal constituency from 2003 to 2011 without anything to show for it?<\/p>\n
“Aba belongs to all: it’s a municipal home for all; we have people from
\nImo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Benue, core North, South West, South South
\netc, why must it be Orji Kalu’s younger brothers all the time that would
\nrepresent us again?<\/p>\n
“We don’t want to have another Mamacracy or brothercracy but Abacracy,
\nafter eight solid years as governor; Orji Kalu cannot point at any
\nlegacy in Aba standing.<\/p>\n
“Orji Kalu joined us in APC when his party, the Progressives Peoples
\nAlliance (PPA) crumbled and he want to also kill APC like he did to PPA.
\nHe’s trying to bring the spirit of PPA to APC which we’re going to
\nresist.<\/p>\n
“There was no primary election; people were stopped from buying forms
\nfor the primary election. The matter is in court. Orji Uzor Kalu imposed
\nhis younger brother on the party.”<\/p>\n
Ikonne urged the electorate to vote for a credible candidate in the
\nelection, irrespective of party he belongs.<\/p>\n
“I want to say it clearly that my party, the APC has no candidate in the
\nbye-election. Yes, I’m of APC, but we can’t shy away from defending
\nwhere we belong. We belong to Ward, Local Government Area and
\nConstituency and in this instance; I belong to Aba Federal Constituency.<\/p>\n
“Let’s be realistic, who is the candidate of our party in Aba North\/Aba
\nSouth federal constituency? Does the party belong to an individual? The
\nperson parading himself as the candidate of the party, Mascot Uzor Kalu,
\nis he not the younger brother of Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of
\nAbia? Does that seat belong to him and members of his family?”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
