{"id":79399,"date":"2021-03-29T17:07:48","date_gmt":"2021-03-29T16:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=79399"},"modified":"2021-03-29T17:07:48","modified_gmt":"2021-03-29T16:07:48","slug":"ndlea-intercepts-over-n2bn-worth-of-illicit-drugs-at-lagos-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/ndlea-intercepts-over-n2bn-worth-of-illicit-drugs-at-lagos-airport\/","title":{"rendered":"NDLEA intercepts over N2bn worth of illicit drugs at Lagos airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\":t8\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":t7\" class=\"a3s aiL \">\n<p>Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,\u00a0have intercepted illicit drugs worth over N2billion at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA,\u00a0Ikeja,\u00a0Lagos\u00a0and three suspected traffickers\u00a0arrested.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of the suspects, Aniede Chimezie Bright was arrested on Sunday\u00a028th March 2021, during the outward clearance of passengers on Air Marroc, with 7.1 Kg of Methamphetamine carefully concealed in food spices and packed in a Swiss\u00a0polo suit\u00a0case.\u00a0The illicit\u00a0substance was bound for Spain with street value of\u00a0over\u00a0N2 billion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the Commander, MMIA Command of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Garba, \u201cUnarguably, the\u00a0closure of borders occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic is responsible for the surge in the price of these\u00a0drugs.\u00a0For instance, the price of meth in Australia had increased from 200 dollars to 600 dollars per gramme\u00a0due supply cut, hence the desperation by the traffickers and barons alike.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a related development, the Command equally\u00a0intercepted one\u00a0Bamidele Babatunde Adeyemo\u00a0at SAHCO\u00a0export shed\u00a0of the airport\u00a0with\u00a0800grammes ofcannabis sativa\u00a0while\u00a0operatives\u00a0also\u00a0<wbr \/>seized 19.950kg of green leaves suspected to be khat.\u00a0The cannabis cleverly concealed in foodstuff was bound for Dubai, UAE.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a follow up operation, one Asonye\u00a0Christian was arrested in connection to the seizure 800grammes of cannabis, while investigations are ongoing with a view to establishing more leads and getting the owner of the khat leaves\u00a0arrested.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While commending the men and officers of the MMIACommand for the arrests and seizures, Chairman\/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig.
