Worried at the spate of insecurity in Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Usman Alkali Baba, NPM, psc (+) has met with Police Strategic Commanders \u2013 Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Commissioners of Police and Deputy Commissioners of Police (Operations) \u2013 in the South-South and South-Eastern States of the country to fashion out new strategies to fight insecurity.<\/div>\n

\nA statement signed by Force Spokesman CP Frank Mba said “the meeting, which held at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, today, 9th April, 2021, is
\npart of efforts by the new Police leadership to critically diagnose the security\u00a0threats in the region and evolve new policing strategies and
\nresponses towards tackling the threats.<\/p>\n

“The IGP, while noting that the South-East and South-South geo-political zones\u00a0of the country are very critical in the socio-economic stability
\nand growth of Nigeria, says no intelligence, operational and administrative efforts should be spared in ensuring that the security challenges\u00a0in the zones are surmounted. He therefore gave marching order to the Strategic Commanders to rejig the security architecture in theirbAreas of Responsibility (AORs) and work with relevant stakeholders in restoring\u00a0law and order.<\/p>\n

“The IGP further directed the Command Commissioners of Police and their supervisory Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to return to their AORs and implement resolutions reached, especially on intelligence-led and community-driven operational strategies, to ensure security\u00a0of lives and property in the region.<\/p>\n

“The IGP called for the support of citizens, noting that the operational strategies shall be within the framework of citizens’ consent, trust and the\u00a0rule of law.”<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
