Gunmen on Thursday struck at the First Bank Plc, Abagana in Anambra state shoting sporadically into the air, dispersing bank customers and passersby.<\/div>\n

Eyewitness said the gunmen, numbering about ten, who drove in black Honda Pilot Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) set fire on a Nissan Pathfinder SUV with registration number UR 640 KJA, and smashed glasses of a Honda car with registration number FST 456 AC, all parked in front of the bank.<\/div>\n

It is not clear if anyone sustained gunshot injury, just as normal human and vehicular movements continued after the gunmen left.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Many observers say this could be the handiwork of the newly formed Ebubeagu security outfit by South East governors to discredit the widely accepted IPOB’s #ESN, noting that the “Unknown Gunmen” which most South Easterners support do not hoist flags and do not attack public institutions like banks.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The attack took place barely hours after IPOB Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu raised alarm of DSS’ plan to attack banks in South East to accuse IPOB of being responsible for it.<\/div>\n

Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police Command Spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said it received a distress call of alleged robbery attack on a bank customer\u00a0at about 3pm today<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He said the man was trailed to a bank by the suspected armed robbers in Ogbunike area. The victim on sighting the hoodlums abandoned his car in front of the bank and escaped.<\/div>\n

According to him, the hoodlums in anger burnt the yet unidentified young man vehicle and in a bid to escape and started shooting sporadically in air.<\/div>\n

“Unfortunately Stray bullets hits two persons who were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Meanwhile, Police Operatives are on their trail and efforts are being intensified to get them apprehended in order to bring them to Justice,” he said.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
