Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters have been advised to be
\nvigilant\u00a0 ahead of the April 17 Local Government Election in Rivers
\nState.<\/p>\n
The Chief of Staff to Rivers State governor, Chief Emeka Woke, gave this
\ncharge during the grand finale of the PDP campaign in Emohua ahead of
\nSaturday’s local government election in the State.<\/p>\n
Woke observed that throughout the period granted to political parties to
\ncampaign, only the PDP went round the 13 wards in Emohua council to
\ncanvass for votes from the electorate. He, however, warned that PDP
\nsupporters cannot to afford not to throng the polling stations on
\nSaturday to ensure the victory of the party’s chairmanship and
\ncouncillorship candidates.<\/p>\n
“During all our campaigns round the 13 wards , we didn’t see any
\npolitical party campaign. Don’t rest on our oars to say nobody is
\ncontesting with us. Don’t go and sleep. Be on your guard on Saturday and
\nensure the PDP candidates emerge victorious.”<\/p>\n
The Chief of Staff lauded PDP stakeholders in Emohua for the choice of a
\nseasoned politician, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, as the party’s\u00a0 chairmanship
\ncandidate.\u00a0 According to him, Lloyd, who was a member of the Rivers
\nState House of Assembly for twelve years, will bring his experience to
\nbear in the governance of the council.<\/p>\n
” I advice the candidate to keep to his campaign promise. Follow the
\ncampaign slogan’ let’s make EMOLGA great again’. As experienced
\npolitician, unite the people of Emohua. Resist any temptation that would
\ndivide the leadership of Emohua Local Government.”<\/p>\n
Woke reminded voters that the PDP administration of Governor Nyesom
\nEzenwo Wike has fulfilled past election campaign promises to construct
\nroads in Emohua, Isiodu , Rumuji, Obele, Ibaa and Elele Alimini and the
\nparty deserved to be rewarded with massive votes on Saturday.<\/p>\n
” Since 2015 to 2019 the ruling party (All Progressives Congress) at the
\nfederal level\u00a0 have not provided even single project in this Local
\nGovernment. Only the PDP\u00a0 has provided meaningful projects. PDP is in
\npower. PDP is in charge in Rivers State.<\/p>\n
” Ask the opposition party in the state to tell you what they have done
\nfor Emohua to seek for your votes. I believe no one will deceive us. The
\nessence of partisan politics is impact your community and not for
\nindividual stomach.”<\/p>\n
The PDP chairmanship candidate, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, said if elected, he
\nwill prioritise security, enhance the welfare of women and compliment
\nthe developmental\u00a0 strides of the Rivers State Government.<\/p>\n
” We shall vigorously pursue security. We will renew what we have on
\nground with legislative backing. So that what we have as local vigilante
\nwould be redirected and focused. The council shall provide stipends for
\nthe vigilantes.<\/p>\n
Lloyd thanked PDP stakeholders in Emohua for\u00a0 considering him worthy to
\nbe chairmanship candidate of the party in Saturday’s election. He
\npledged to run an all inclusive administration when he assumes office.<\/p>\n
” I lack words to thank the good people of Emohua Local Government Area,
\nespecially, the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party of the Local
\nGovernment. I am so overwhelmed.<\/p>\n
” For me, it’s an honour I don’t deserve. I am less than\u00a0 six months in
\nthe party. Here I am in the party as your candidate. It’s an honour I
\nwould never forget.”<\/p>\n
