A police inspector attached to the Police Mobile Force (55), Aba, Abia State, identified as Ochofie Ijimbile, has allegedly killed himself while servicing his rifle inside the squadron at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Police sources told\u00a0Pointblanknews.com<\/a>that Ijimbile was servicing his rifle when a bullet in the chamber went off and hit him on the chest.<\/p>\n

Ijimbile was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was said to have been confirmed dead on arrival.<\/p>\n

The late cop was serving as a hotel guard in the city and had only visited the Squadron.<\/p>\n

Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed that the policeman was servicing his rifle in readiness for the day\u2019s job when a bullet accidently went off and hit him on the chest.<\/p>\n

He further confirmed that the injured policeman was immediately rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead.<\/p>\n

The PPRO disclosed that preliminary investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, even as his corpse has been deposited at an undisclosed morgue in Aba while efforts are on to reach out his family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
