The All Progressives Congress, APC has admitted that the magnitude of
\ninsecurity in the country under the present leadership is humongous even
\nas it sympathises with all those affected by the security incidences.<\/p>\n
The party also urged Nigerians to resist every opportunists and
\nprofiteers of insecurity.<\/p>\n
In a statement by the National Secretary, APC Caretaker\/Extraordinary
\nConvention Planning Committee (CECPC), John James Akpanudoedehe said
\n“the issue of insecurity in the country has found expression in
\nterrorist and criminal activities of Boko Haram, bandits, kidnappers,
\nrustlers and recently the highly condemnable attacks on security
\nformations in some states. These are current realities and the All
\nProgressives Congress (APC) will not play politics with matters of life
\nand our collective wellbeing as a nation.<\/p>\n
“As a progressive party in government, we are fully-focussed on
\nidentifying and bringing to book the perpetrators and sponsors of this
\nhydra-headed insecurity monster and consolidating on our visible
\ndevelopment strides. While the party sympathises with all affected by
\nthe security incidents, we call on all to unite against insecurity and
\ncriminality, however expressed.<\/p>\n
“Only in safety can we enjoy the current agriculture revolution which
\nhas seen Nigeria achieve self-sufficiency in rice and other staple food
\nitems. Only in safety can we enjoy the current infrastructure revolution
\nthat has witnessed the rehabilitation, construction and reconstruction
\nof over 13,000 kilometers of critical federal roads, construction of
\nthousands of affordable and acceptable housing and of course the ongoing
\nnational railway projects gainfully connecting cities and towns across
\nthe country.<\/p>\n
“Again, we must not fall for the plot of sectarian opportunists and
\nunpatriotic partisans who have swarmed the public space with divisive
\nrhetoric in furtherance of their selfish plot to exploit the security
\nsituation for hideous gains. It is dangerous to national security and we
\nshould not let them succeed. The President Muhammadu Buhari
\nadministration is criminalising crime, not ethnicity. The president’s
\ncharge to the newly-appointed service chiefs was clear: “We are in a
\nstate of emergency. Be patriotic, serve the country well, as your
\nloyalty is to the country”.<\/p>\n
“Our security services deserve our continued support and cooperation as
\nthey undertake their constitutional duty to safeguard citizen’s life,
\nproperty and our territorial integrity. In our private and public
\nspaces, we have a duty to be vigilant and volunteer information on
\nstrange and suspicious activities around us. The President Buhari
\ngovernment will continue and strategically deploy all state resources in
\nachieving public safety.<\/p>\n
“We must shun the antics and activities of unpatriotic and sectarian
\nopportunists fanning divisive embers, promote peaceful coexistence,
\neschew bitterness and unite against insecurity and crime, for the
\ndevelopment of the country.<\/p>\n
“From the Ogbomosho taxi driver who was born and lives his productive
\nlife in Kaduna State; the Igbo trader who is the Chairman of the Ladipo
\nspare parts market association in Lagos state to the Kano-born Hausa
\nbusinessman investing and building sugar, cement, petrochemical plants
\naround the country and employing thousands. Despite our natural
\ndifferences in culture, religion and ethnicities, we are more patriotic,
\nalike and united than bigots, sectarian opportunists and unpatriotic
\npartisans try to make us believe. We have a collective stake in our
\ncountry’s security and ensuring that Nigeria works for all.”<\/p>\n
