{"id":80042,"date":"2021-04-27T02:44:51","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T01:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=80042"},"modified":"2021-04-27T02:44:51","modified_gmt":"2021-04-27T01:44:51","slug":"anambra-guber-work-for-victory-dont-rely-on-federal-might-apc-chieftain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/anambra-guber-work-for-victory-dont-rely-on-federal-might-apc-chieftain\/","title":{"rendered":"Anambra guber: Work for victory, don\u2019t rely on federal might \u2014 APC chieftain"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m91697\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal  \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra, Chief Ekene\u00a0Enefe, says the party has bright chances to win the Nov.6<br \/>\ngovernorship poll in the state but must work hard.<\/p>\n<p>Enefe said this during an interactive session with newsmen in Awka on<br \/>\nMonday, warning the party not to rely on \u201cfederal might\u201d to achieve<br \/>\nvictory.<\/p>\n<p>He charged the party leadership and aspirants to take their campaigns to<br \/>\nthe communities and ensure the grassroots became part of their<br \/>\nelectioneering.<\/p>\n<p>He said that although the goodwill President Muhammadu Buhari enjoyed in<br \/>\nthe South-East was a huge advantage, \u201cthe aspirants must not be carried<br \/>\naway and rely on Abuja or federal might alone for victory\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the aspirants to unite and rally support for any of them that<br \/>\nwould emerge from the primary in the interest of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Enefe also urged the party leadership to conduct a primary election that<br \/>\nwould reflect the wishes of a majority of the members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe chances of APC is very bright in Anambra because of the failure of<br \/>\nthe All Progressives Grand Alliance-led government to fix the<br \/>\ninfrastructure deficit and security challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot talk about winning election in Anambra without counting on<br \/>\nBuhari\u2019s achievements in the state and southeast in general.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the time for APC to takeover the mantle of government in<br \/>\nAnambra but we are not doing enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI expect the party to develop a robust grassroots based campaign. We<br \/>\nshould not rely on any power or connection anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis election has to be seen to be won freely and fairly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe electorate want those they can trust. The aspirants have to touch<br \/>\nthe base. They need to carry the grassroots along.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey should roll up their sleeves and get to work,\u201d the APC chieftain<br \/>\nsaid .<\/p>\n<p>He threw his weight behind the call for a president of Igbo extraction<br \/>\nin 2023 but urged the people to reach out to other regions in the effort<br \/>\nto achieve its objective.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the political class from the zone to work to ensure that<br \/>\nit presented its best for the ra\u00e7e in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>He advocated that the youths from the zone be given a chance, pointing<br \/>\nout that available evidence showed that the best preforming ministers in<br \/>\nthe present Federal Government were youths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we talk about presidency of Igbo extraction, its not just about<br \/>\nsoutheast because we have other people of Igbo race outside the zone<br \/>\n\u201cSo, we have to look inward and support our own wherever they are.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe zone should begin to work towards next presidential election,\u201d he<br \/>\nsaid.
