{"id":80895,"date":"2021-05-19T11:25:05","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T10:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=80895"},"modified":"2021-05-19T11:25:05","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T10:25:05","slug":"chinese-abducted-two-soldiers-scores-of-bandits-killed-in-niger-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/chinese-abducted-two-soldiers-scores-of-bandits-killed-in-niger-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese abducted, two soldiers, scores of bandits killed in Niger attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">&#8230; 18 Zamfara travellers abducted<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Bandits yesterday, killed two soldiers and abducted a Chinese in the Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.<\/p>\n<p>It was learnt that the bandits attacked the Libale community in Nasko, but met with stiff military resistance.<\/p>\n<p>This resulted in the exchange of fire between the bandits and the soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>A security source told our correspondent that two soldiers were killed in the attack, while several bandits were killed.<\/p>\n<p>However, the number of bandits injured or killed in the exchange of fire could not be ascertained.<\/p>\n<p>A resident of the village said the bandits ran into the Libale Mountain area in the community.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nIt was also learnt that the military and other security agents were currently combing the mountain area and the forest with a view to apprehending the bandits.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese was said to be one of the workers of the construction firm handling a road project in the area.<\/p>\n<p>When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, did not take his calls and had not responded to text messages sent to his mobile telephone.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Meanwhile bandits have invaded Dansadau, the second largest town in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting 18 persons, looting property and rustling animals.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nAn indigene of the town, Husaini Yanbiyu, told\u00a0<a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1621505446451000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEKCJzfemJZq6aD8I5ql87udsL2kA\" data-mt-detrack-inspected=\"true\">Pointblanknews.com<\/a>\u00a0that the bandits, who were in large numbers, came to the town\u00a0<a dir=\"ltr\" data-mt-detrack-inspected=\"true\">around 4pm<\/a>, carrying sophisticated weapons and shooting sporadically.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nYanbiyu said, \u201cEverybody in the town ran helter-skelter to avoid being killed as the bandits were shooting from different directions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I am talking to you now, there is nobody outside the town. Everybody is currently in their house because there are no security personnel here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked if there were casualties, Yanbiyu said, \u201cUntil we come out of hiding, nobody can tell if people were killed or not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, said, \u201cThe police command is not aware of the 18 people said to have been abducted.
