{"id":80984,"date":"2021-05-21T00:01:08","date_gmt":"2021-05-20T23:01:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=80984"},"modified":"2021-05-21T00:01:08","modified_gmt":"2021-05-20T23:01:08","slug":"neurosurgeon-psychiatrist-5-others-charged-with-murder-of-diego-maradona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/neurosurgeon-psychiatrist-5-others-charged-with-murder-of-diego-maradona\/","title":{"rendered":"Neurosurgeon, psychiatrist, 5 others charged with murder of Diego Maradona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seven people, including a neurosurgeon and a psychiatrist, are facing charges in Argentina related to the death of soccer star Diego Maradona.<\/p>\n<p>The two doctors, along with two nurses, a nurse coordinator, another doctor and a psychologist, are accused of being negligent with Maradona and conducting themselves in an \u201cinappropriate, deficient and reckless manner\u201d before and after the November 2020 death.<\/p>\n<p>Maradona died of heart failure on Nov. 25 after brain surgery.<\/p>\n<p>The seven are charged with \u201csimple homicide with eventual intent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brain surgeon Leopoldo Luque, who operated on Maradona to remove a blood clot two weeks before his death, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and claimed Maradona was a close friend.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear what motive any of the seven suspects had, but they each face eight to 25 years in prison if convicted.
