{"id":81241,"date":"2021-05-28T14:09:32","date_gmt":"2021-05-28T13:09:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=81241"},"modified":"2021-05-28T14:09:32","modified_gmt":"2021-05-28T13:09:32","slug":"efcc-seized-jewelries-worth-n14-6bn-houses-worth-80m-from-ex-minister-diezani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/efcc-seized-jewelries-worth-n14-6bn-houses-worth-80m-from-ex-minister-diezani\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC seized jewelries worth N14.6bn, houses worth $80m from ex-minister Diezani"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1701005613236026011\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has seized jewelries worth N14 billion from former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<p>The EFCC Chairman, Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, made this known at the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the assessment and status of\u00a0recovered loot on Friday in Abuja<\/p>\n<p>He also said that the Houses seized from the former Minister is also valued\u00a0at 80million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The anti graft chairman said that Diezani\u2019s jewelries are still in the custody\u00a0of the agency, adding that it had not been auction but had been<br \/>\nfinally forfeited to the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<p>He said that court processes, procedures and administrative exigencies had\u00a0stalled some of the seized assets to be auctioned by the anti graft<br \/>\nagency.<\/p>\n<p>Bawa however said that the agency would henceforth deal with the seized assets\u00a0case by case at the courts in order to quickly disposed the<br \/>\nassets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlready the Federal Government has set up a committee under the chairmanship\u00a0of the Solicitor-General for the Federation and I think<br \/>\nthey are working tirelessly.<\/p>\n<p>This according to him is to ensure that assets that are not only recovered\u00a0by the EFCC but the entirety of the recovery agencies assets<br \/>\nare disposed off \u201cWe have EFCC representatives from that committee and we believe at the end of the day Nigerians are going to appreciate what that committee will\u00a0come out with in term of the mandate given to them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Asked when the committee would wind up so the assets could be disposed, Bawa said that he was not a member of the committee to know how soon the assets\u00a0were going to be disposed.<\/p>\n<p>Bawa said that in its quest to transform the agency, it would soon digitalise\u00a0its processes, adding that it had also created and upgraded<br \/>\nfour additional department to restore confidence.<\/p>\n<p>He listed the departments to include: Intelligence, procurement, Internal\u00a0Affairs and the Information Communication Technology Department<br \/>\nHe said that there was no loot that had been re looted as been speculated\u00a0, stressing that going forward, the EFCC would be different<br \/>\nand Nigerians would be the better for it.<\/p>\n<p>He said that he would always honoured the National Assembly to account for\u00a0what the agency had done, adding that public servants come and go<br \/>\nbut the institution would remain.(NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has seized jewelries worth N14 billion from former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke.
