\u00a0While nothing much has been heard from many of his close aides and officials,\u00a0pointblanknews.com<\/a>\u00a0has gathered that a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence during the Abacha regime, Chief Mike Okibe Onoja, really looted this nation to a pulp and he has been boasting that no anti-graft agency can probe him.<\/p>\n

Over 32 choice properties worth over hundreds of billions have been traced to him. It is also believed that a lot more are yet to be located as investigation is still on going.<\/p>\n

In Abuja alone, the properties owned by Chief Onoja include: a Duplex on No. 81B, Nelson Mandela Street, Asokoro; a Duplex on No.13, Pope John Paul Street, Maitama; an Office building on No. 5 Agadez Street, Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse II, a Plot of Land directly opposite MTN Head-Office, Maitama, with a court case; Century Court Estate, Off LakeChad Street, Maitama; a Duplex on TY Danjuma Street, Asokoro and Moon Court Estate, Maitama.<\/p>\n

The properties include a Block of Flats on Samuel Jereton Street, Gudu, a Mobil Fueling Station on Kubwa Expressway, a Staff Quarters behind the Mobil Fueling Station, Kubwa Expressway, a Plot of Land at Idu Industrial Layout, formerly used as a bakery, a large plot of land in Maitama with a court case, a Duplex at Ministers Hill, Maitama, an old Duplex at Wuse Zone 5, a Plot of Land at Kiyami, Abuja, a Plot of Land at Kagini, and a Staff Quarters at Lugbe where he accommodates his staffs.<\/p>\n

He also owns two properties in London which include a Semi-Detached Duplex on No. 5 Deacons Rise, London, England, N2 0BF, which he bought for \u00a3670,000 in May 1999. (Note that this property was bought in 1999 while he was still in the Civil Service. He retired in 2003.)<\/p>\n

Another UK property, a Fully Detached house on No. 152 Hendon Lane, London, Barnet, England, N3 3PS, was bought by him for \u00a31,650,000 in April 2014.<\/p>\n

In Lagos, Chief Onoja owns a plot of Land yet to be developed in Lekki, a Duplex in Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, a Duplex at Lekki Peninsula, a Duplex at Osborne Estate, Lagos and yet another Duplex at Banana Island, Lagos.<\/p>\n

Some other of his properties include:\u00a0Plots of Land yet to be developed in Port Harcourt; a Property along Mando Expressway, Kaduna, a Duplex at the Government Residential Area, Kaduna, a duplex at Government Quarters, Rayfield Jos, close to Rayfield Golf-Course, a Duplex at Makurdi, Benue, a Triplex at Agila Town, Ado LGA, Benue, a Mansion on Mike Onoja Close, Otukpo as well as a Plot of Land yet to be developed in Otukpo.<\/p>\n

Chief Onoja sits on top of seven companies worth over billion of\u00a0 Naira. The companies include Moonsons Resources Investment International, Century Court Apartments Limited, Faitmount Consolidation Limited, Dominion Investment Resources, Moon court Properties Limited, Monasons Ventures Limited, and Century Petroleum Limited<\/p>\n

One of his companies, Dominion Investment Resources has Portfolio Investments in a Bank in Europe. He also runs an Alloy-rim manufacturing plant business with a Business Partner called Vulcan in Germany.<\/p>\n

Pointblanknews.com investigation reveals that Chief Onoja has shares in Zenith Bank, an account with First Bank, Access Bank, Zenith Bank, Area 7, Garki, Zenith Bank HQ, Maitama, Stocks, Bonds, Fixed Deposits and Treasury Bills in Zenith Bank as well as shares in Emis Telecommunication Company.<\/p>\n

In one of his Zenith Bank account\u00a0(2250636141) with account name, Moonsons Resources Investment witnessed an excess transactions worth over N200million\u00a0within August and November, 2018.<\/p>\n

Among the fleet of luxury cars at delivery automobiles which he owns include a Kia SUV, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Camry, Mercedes SLK, Old Peugeot 505, Hummer H2 Jeep, and High Lander SUV.<\/p>\n

The vehicles include a Mercedes G-Wagon, a Mercedes S-Class, a Mercedes M-Class, a Range Rover SUV, a Rolls Royce Phantom, and a Peugeot Station Wagon, etc.<\/p>\n

Investigation by\u00a0pointblanknews.com<\/a>\u00a0has it that the properties listed above are only a small fraction of the wealth Chief Mike Okibe Onoja amassed.<\/p>\n

Some of these properties were acquired while he was still in the Civil Service, like the London Property on No. 5 Deacons Rise, London, England, N2 0BF. Others were acquired shortly after he left the Civil Service.<\/p>\n

One would wonder how a former Permanent Secretary, who spent all his working life in the Civil Service, and retired in 2003, got so much money to amass this kind of wealth.<\/p>\n

It is believed that Onoja while in office as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, diverted funds that was meant for the cooling of the Ammunition Depot, and this caused the Ikeji Cantonment Bomb-blast of 2002, which led to the loss of so many lives.<\/p>\n

Onoja once boasted \u201cthat no anti-corruption agency can go after him because he had retired from the Civil Service before they were created, and Nigeria Laws are not retroactive.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Permanent Secretary also told close associates that \u201cif Abacha stole five, I stole three and nothing anyone can do about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

He forgot that even though Nigerian Laws aren\u2019t retroactive, the anti-corruption agencies have been recovering the Abacha loots, and he Onoja served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence in the regime of the late General.<\/p>\n

Also, the ICPC was established in the year 2000, while Onoja retired from the Civil Service in 2003.<\/p>\n

Educated at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and University of Colorado, USA, Onoja holds the honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) as well as honorary Doctor of Management Science from the University of Mkar<\/p>\n

On his retirement from the Civil Service in 2003, Mike Onoja entered politics in 2007 when he entered the primary election for governorship in Benue State under the ruling People’s Democratic Party, against Gabriel Suswam, Steven Lawani, and Patrick Abba Moro.<\/p>\n

He ran again with the same party in 2015 in the Benue South Senatorial primary election, but later left the race for Senator David Mark, who was the incumbent Senate President at the time.<\/div>\n

After the defeat of the People’s Democratic Party at the 2015 general election by the All Progressives Congress, he and other politicians of the PDP defected to the APC in 2016.<\/div>\n

He returned to the PDP the run-up to the 2019 Benue south Senatorial election. After the PDP’s Senatorial Primary election in 2018, Mike Onoja again defected from the party to the Social Democratic Party after expressing his dissatisfaction with the PDP’s conduct of the primary election.<\/div>\n
