{"id":82348,"date":"2021-06-17T15:35:47","date_gmt":"2021-06-17T14:35:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=82348"},"modified":"2021-06-17T15:35:47","modified_gmt":"2021-06-17T14:35:47","slug":"justices-appointments-suit-against-njc-others-suffers-setback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/justices-appointments-suit-against-njc-others-suffers-setback\/","title":{"rendered":"Justices\u2019 Appointments: Suit Against NJC, Others Suffers Setback"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">A suit filed by Incorporated Trustees of Alaigbo Development Foundation against the National Judicial Council, Federal Judicial Service Commission, NJC, and President of the Court of Appeal, yesterday suffered a setback as it was further adjourned to June 23, for hearing.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nOther respondents in the suit are the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).<\/p>\n<p>By the suit, the Igbo group is challenging the alleged lopsidedness in the recent appointment of Appeal Court Justices in the county.<\/p>\n<p>The trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, of the Federal High Court, Abuja, shifted the matter to June 23.<\/p>\n<p>At a resumed sitting, counsel to the plaintiff, Max Ozoaka, informed the court that he had served hearing notices on the defendants in accordance with the earlier court order.<\/p>\n<p>However, Ozoaka stated that the defendants had just served him with their counter affidavits two days ago and that he would need time to respond.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reacting, Paul Usoro (SAN), who appeared for the NJC, and counsel to 2nd and 3rd defendants, Yakubu. C.
