{"id":82504,"date":"2021-06-20T19:37:03","date_gmt":"2021-06-20T18:37:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=82504"},"modified":"2021-06-20T19:37:03","modified_gmt":"2021-06-20T18:37:03","slug":"breaking-police-engage-bandits-in-gun-duel-kill-14-in-benue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/breaking-police-engage-bandits-in-gun-duel-kill-14-in-benue\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Police engage bandits in gun duel, kill 14 in Benue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">No fewer than 14 bandits who attacked a police station in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State have been killed.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nPointblanknews.com gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday morning when the assailants invaded the police station to launch a reprisal attack on the operatives for arresting some of their members.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement issued by the state\u2019s Police Public Relations Officer, Anene Sewuese Catherine.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The statement reads, \u201con 19th June, 2021 five bandits were arrested and detained at Kastina-Ala Police Division for investigation and prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn 20th June, 2021 at about 0130hrs more than fifty other gang members of the detainees mobilized and invaded the police station to rescue their counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficers at the division who were already at alert engaged them in a gun duel and were able to subdue the bandits. Fourteen (14) of them were brought down during the exchange of fire while several others escaped with gunshot injuries.
