{"id":83096,"date":"2021-07-04T12:09:52","date_gmt":"2021-07-04T11:09:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=83096"},"modified":"2021-07-04T12:09:52","modified_gmt":"2021-07-04T11:09:52","slug":"army-chief-yahaya-appoints-new-field-commanders-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/army-chief-yahaya-appoints-new-field-commanders-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Army Chief, Yahaya, appoints new field commanders, others"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1704340935864865305\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chief of Army Staff, Faruk Yahaya, has appointed new Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), field commanders and other key staff into various army formations.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.The new appointments came few weeks after the redeployment of some senior officers in a major shake up.<\/p>\n<p>Notable amongst the new appointees are B.O. Sawyer, a major general, as the new Director Defence Information while I.M. Yusuf, a major general, becomes the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).<\/p>\n<p>Others are T.A. Gagariga, a major general, who will move to the Nigerian Army Artillery Corps as Corps Commander Artillery while V.O. Ezugwu, a major general, becomes Commander of the Infantry Corps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The statement reads: &#8220;The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Faruk Yahaya has approved the appointment of Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Field Commanders and other key staff that will provide the much needed vigour in his command of the Nigerian Army (NA). This was disclosed through the NA Posting released by the Department of Military Secretary on Friday 2 July 2021.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;The COAS approved the appointment of the Commandant Nigerian Army Armoured School, Maj Gen BO Sawyer as the new Director Defence Information while the Chief of Operations Army, Maj Gen IM Yusuf becomes the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy. Maj Gen TA Gagariga will move from Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans to Nigerian Army Artillery Corps as Corps Commander Artillery and Maj Gen VO Ezugwu of Training and Doctrine Command becomes the Commander Infantry Corps.
