{"id":83719,"date":"2021-07-15T15:07:39","date_gmt":"2021-07-15T14:07:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=83719"},"modified":"2021-07-15T15:07:39","modified_gmt":"2021-07-15T14:07:39","slug":"ayade-matawalle-harassed-into-joining-apc-pdp-northern-govs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/ayade-matawalle-harassed-into-joining-apc-pdp-northern-govs\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayade, Matawalle harassed into joining APC &#8211; PDP Northern govs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Northern Governors elected on the platform of the People\u2019s Democratic Party have asked the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari to stop intimidating members of the opposition into joining the All Progressives Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, said this after a meeting with his colleagues in Abuja, late on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The governors alleged that their Cross River and Zamfara State counterparts, Ben Ayade and Bello Matawalle respectively, were brow-beaten and intimidated into leaving the PDP to join the ruling party.<\/p>\n<p>The PDP governors also accused the Buhari regime of doing little, if anything, for the North despite controlling political power.<\/p>\n<p>Ishaku said, \u201c All governors of the PDP who have joined the ruling APC in recent times, did so because of intimidation. Most of our members are also being intimidated persistently. We want the intimidation stopped because we are not comfortable with it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all resolved that the APC government has not provided the leadership needed in the North. And so, we the PDP governors in the North are not satisfied with the leadership of the APC government in the North.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dAnd we are drawing the attention that even though the leadership is in the North, our region is being short-changed. We want that observation to be noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe the PDP governors have also resolved that, on our own, to continue to do our best for our people as we have already been doing in our various states.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other Northern PDP governors who attended the meeting are Samuel Ortom (Benue), Aminu Tanbuwal (Sokoto), Bala Muhammed (Bauchi) and Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa).<\/p>\n<p>However, responding to the allegations by the governors, the National Secretary of the APC, Senator John Akpanudoehede, who doubles as the party\u2019s Spokesperson, dismissed their claims.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cWe do not want to join issues with an opposition which is going into extinction. But let them know that all of those who have so far joined our great party did so on their own volition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have seen the progress being made under the transparent leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, some have come out to testify openly that the personal integrity of Mr. President was a great motivation.
