{"id":84190,"date":"2021-07-29T22:00:50","date_gmt":"2021-07-29T21:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=84190"},"modified":"2021-07-29T22:00:50","modified_gmt":"2021-07-29T21:00:50","slug":"hushpuppi-abba-kyari-risks-20-years-imprisonment-over-alleged-money-laundering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/hushpuppi-abba-kyari-risks-20-years-imprisonment-over-alleged-money-laundering\/","title":{"rendered":"Hushpuppi: Abba Kyari risks 20 years imprisonment over alleged money laundering\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1706650002369746280\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nAbba Alhaji Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, has been accused of collecting a bribe from embattled social media celebrity, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Police chief risks about 20 years imprisonment over alleged money laundering if found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>In a 26 page court document released by the United States Department of Justice on Wednesday, titled: \u2018Six Indicted in International Scheme to Defraud Qatari School Founder and then Launder over $1 Million in Illicit Proceeds\u2019, Kyari was said to have been bribed to arrest one Kelly Chibuzor Vincent, 40, in Nigeria, who created bogus documents and arranged for the creation of a fake bank website and phone banking line to support the defrauding of a business person trying to provide $1.1m for the funding of a school in Qatar.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nVincent was said to have contacted the businessman following a disagreement between him, Hushpuppi and other members of the syndicate to expose the deal.<\/p>\n<p>However, angered by his move, Hushpuppi allegedly ordered Kyari to arrest him in Nigeria and lock him up.<\/p>\n<p>Kyari, after arresting and locking up Vincent, allegedly sent photos as confirmation to Hushpuppi, who\u00a0 allegedly sent the police officer some money via a provided bank account number.<\/p>\n<p>The 46-year-old now risks a 20-year jail term if declared guilty by the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA criminal complaint and an indictment contain allegations that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Both conspiracy counts alleged in the indictment carry a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. Aggravated identity theft carries a mandatory two-year prison term,\u201d US court document revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Further findings revealed that Kyari allegedly conspired with Hushpuppi to:<\/p>\n<p>\u201ca. conduct and attempt to conduct financial transactions, affecting interstate and foreign commerce\u2026<\/p>\n<p>b. to transport, transmit, and transfer funds from a place in the United States to a place outside in the financial transactions represented the proceeds of the some form of unlawful activity \u2014 namely, wire fraud, in violation of Title 18\u2026<\/p>\n<p>c. to engage and attempt to engage in monetary transactions involving criminally derived property of a value greater than $10,000, affecting interstate and foreign commerce\u2026,\u201d extracts from the US court document reveal.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abba Alhaji Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, has been accused of collecting a bribe from embattled social media celebrity, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.
