{"id":84201,"date":"2021-07-30T12:50:23","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T11:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=84201"},"modified":"2021-07-30T12:50:23","modified_gmt":"2021-07-30T11:50:23","slug":"efcc-recovers-n5-4bn-misappropriated-funds-at-nhis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/efcc-recovers-n5-4bn-misappropriated-funds-at-nhis\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC Recovers N5.4bn Misappropriated Funds At NHIS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has repatriated N5.4billion out of N12.085billion allegedly \u2018carted away\u2019 by some former officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Secretary of NHIS, Prof Muhammad Nasir Sambo, who disclosed this on Thursday when he led the management of the agency on a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the EFCC, Jabi, Abuja, said he won\u2019t join those mismanaging resources of the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cIn total, the EFCC has been able to recover about N5.4billion for us out of the N12.085b that has been trapped; this is a monumental achievement and that is why we will ensure that we remain good partners to the EFCC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI assure you that every kobo recovered will be judiciously utilized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NHIS boss also used the opportunity to update the anti-graft agency on the reform efforts at the NHIS, which include the recruitment of health professionals to enhance the capacity of the Scheme to respond to the yearning of subscribers and other stakeholders in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>In his reaction, the Executive Chairman of EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who was represented by the Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, reiterated the Commission\u2019s resolve to work with the NHIS in achieving universal health coverage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe EFCC has no choice but to work with you, to make you succeed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will always see to it that the investigation that we are doing, we will continue with it; we are happy that it is yielding results and all the monies or funds that are recovered are being put to good use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, we will not relent in our efforts to see that each and every kobo that is lost is recovered for the benefit of the country,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has repatriated N5.4billion out of N12.085billion allegedly \u2018carted away\u2019 by some former officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
