{"id":84329,"date":"2021-08-02T12:00:52","date_gmt":"2021-08-02T11:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=84329"},"modified":"2021-08-02T12:00:52","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T11:00:52","slug":"breaking-dss-produces-igbohos-aides-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/breaking-dss-produces-igbohos-aides-in-court\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: DSS produces Igboho\u2019s aides in court"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The Department of State Services, on Monday, brought eight out of the 12 detained aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho to the Federal High Court Abuja before Justice Obiora Egwuatu.<\/p>\n<p>The trial is set to commence shortly as the court is on a brief recess. The court earlier stood down the matter over the absence of the lawyer to the DSS, I. Awo. The lawyer was said to be on his way to court.<\/p>\n<p>Officials of the DSS were also engaging journalists as they tried to stop them from entering the courtroom.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Pointblanknews.com had earlier reported that Justice Egwuatu ordered the DSS to produce the 12 detained aides of Igboho in court in the suit marked FHC\/ABJ\/CS\/647\/2021 to enable the court to inquire into the circumstances surrounding their arrest and detention.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Egwuatu had also ordered the DSS to show cause why the Igboho\u2019s aides should not be admitted to bail.<\/p>\n<p>When the matter came up on the last adjourned date before the judge, the DSS\u2019 lawyer had stated that some of the names on the court order were different from the names of the persons they had arrested on July 1, 2021 at Igboho\u2019s house.<\/p>\n<p>Awo had also told the court that apart from the second, fourth and twelfth applicants, the identities of the rest of the applicants on the court\u2019s order do not have the persons bearing those names.<\/p>\n<p>Awo asserted that the first applicant on the order had been released on July 27.<\/p>\n<p>He had also stated that the persons that were arrested during the raid on Igboho\u2019s house would be released or charged to court upon the conclusion of their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The counsel for the applicants, Pelumi Olajengbesi, had described the failure of the DSS to produce the applicants in court as \u201can apparent affront on the authority of the court, which was not justifiable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Justice Egwuatu had berated the DSS for failing to produce the applicants according to the order of the court.<\/p>\n<p>The detained aides of Sunday Igboho had instituted a suit against the DSS and its Director-General, Yusuf Bichi, following their arrest and detention on July 1, after the DSS\u2019 raid of Igboho\u2019s residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State<\/p>\n<p>The applicants are Abdulateef Ofeyagbe, Amoda Babatunde, Tajudeen Erinoyen, Diakola Ademola, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Noah, and Ayobami Donald.<\/p>\n<p>Others are Adelabe Usman, Oluwapelimi Kunle, Raji Kazeem, Taiwo Opeyemi and Bamidele Sunday.<\/p><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of State Services, on Monday, brought eight out of the 12 detained aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho to the Federal High Court Abuja&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":84330,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-84329","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exclusive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
