Abia State Police Command says it has uncovered plans by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to use its militant arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) to enforce compliance during tomorrow\u2019s sit at home protest ordered by the Biafra group.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nIPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, disclosed a sit- home order on Monday of every week beginning from Monday 9th August, 2021, until its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is released from detention by the Nigerian government.<\/p>\n

Commissioner of Police, Abia State, Mrs Janet Agbede,who stated this in Umuahia, warned that intelligence reports revealed that hoodlums have planned to unleash harm on peace loving and dutiful people in the state and advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against participating in any act capable of stirring action likely to cause breach of peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are rumours circulating in the state that members of the proscribed IPOB have resolved to commence a sit at home on every Monday with effect from Monday August 9, 2021. The story has it that they have arranged to use their militant arm ESN, to force compliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware that the majority of the citizens depend on daily income for their survival. The sit at home will negatively impact on the economy of the state and individual pocket.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese intended actions against those that are not willing\u00a0to sit at home constitute acts likely to cause breach of the peace and also infringes on their fundamental human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
