{"id":84702,"date":"2021-08-12T12:47:38","date_gmt":"2021-08-12T11:47:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=84702"},"modified":"2021-08-12T12:47:38","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T11:47:38","slug":"fg-announces-new-rates-for-toll-gates-across-nigeria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/fg-announces-new-rates-for-toll-gates-across-nigeria\/","title":{"rendered":"FG announces new rates for toll gates across Nigeria"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The federal government has approved the Federal Roads and Bridges Tolling Policy and Regulations.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe Federal Executive Council (FEC) gave the approval at the weekly meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe endorsement signals the reintroduction of toll gates on federal roads across Nigeria.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nIn 2019, the Buhari administration announced plans to bring back toll collection scrapped by the Obasanjo government in 2004.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nWorks and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola gave a breakdown of the rates while briefing reporters.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nFashola revealed that bicycles, pedal cycles, tricycles, motorcycles, and other two or three-wheeled transport are exempted.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nOthers to benefit from the exemption are diplomatic vehicles, military and paramilitary vehicles.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nVehicles expected to pay have been classified into five categories.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nFirst: cars, second: SUVs, third: private buses, fourth: commercial buses, fifth: luxury buses and trucks.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nCars will pay N200; SUVs and Jeeps N300; private buses N300; commercial buses N150; luxury buses and trucks N500.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nFashola recalled that a Willingness-To-Pay Survey was carried out before the pricing framework.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nHe said toll payment will not start now, adding that the government presented the policy to help people, states, local governments, road managers and investors have an idea of the initiative.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe toll collection will commence once the roads are motorable and will affect only federal dual carriage roads.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government has approved the Federal Roads and Bridges Tolling Policy and Regulations.
