Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has hinted that the disagreement that existed between him, his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola, and some party leaders was a result of alleged non-inclusion.<\/div>\n

\nThe governor explained that those in disagreement with him wanted to be involved in appointment processes.<\/p>\n

He made the clarification when he appeared at NAN Forum on Sunday, adding that the issues involved are not personal but for the progress and development of the state.<\/p>\n

Oyetola noted that efforts are on to resolve the crisis between him, Aregbesola and others in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to go into specifics, all I know is that, yes some people are aggrieved for different reasons and it is natural.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou do appointments and some people believe they should be part of it, but they are not; they become aggrieved. But that doesn\u2019t mean that what you have done is wrong,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The governor, however, described Aregbesola, who currently serves as the Minister of Interior, as a brother and well-wisher.<\/p>\n

Oyetola, who said that possible disagreements could not be totally ruled out in politics and governance, however, insisted that there was nothing personal between the two of them.<\/p>\n

He, however, said that possible areas of disagreement could also have been in respect of disparities and changes in some policies and programmes his government inherited from the Aregbesola administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me say this, Ogbeni and I are brothers, yes, we can have little disagreements; these are not unexpected.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou mentioned the issue of tinkering with some policies of education, which in any case was desirable by the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome could misinterpret this to mean something else. We did it in good faith and in line with the demand of the people and we followed due process to do that.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike I mentioned, policies are supposed to be reviewed from time to time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have had cause to reverse myself even as a governor.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\u201cThat\u2019s part of life. That thing was unduly exaggerated by some people, giving different meanings to it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat doesn\u2019t change the fact that we are brothers. I hate people saying we are quarrelling. There\u2019s no basis for it. We are not quarrelling at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know why people are always asking me if he\u2019s going to support my second term election. Well\u2026 I have said that he is my brother and I believe he will want to ensure my success.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout quantifying it, I put in my best for the eight years of his success.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is the much that I can say.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to go into specifics, all I know is that, yes some people are aggrieved for different reasons and it is natural.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou do appointments and some people believe they should be part of it, but they are not; they become aggrieved. But that doesn\u2019t mean that what you have done is wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cNaturally, we could have a few disagreements even in politics. Fixing of conflicts is part of politics; we can find a way of conflict resolution and move on.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have actually set up a committee on reconciliation; to see people who are genuinely aggrieved and to be brought back to the same single-family that we used to be.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe with time, we should be able to achieve that,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
