{"id":85785,"date":"2021-09-10T08:57:51","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T07:57:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=85785"},"modified":"2021-09-10T08:57:51","modified_gmt":"2021-09-10T07:57:51","slug":"canada-based-nigerians-protest-insecurity-in-homeland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/canada-based-nigerians-protest-insecurity-in-homeland\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada-based Nigerians protest insecurity in homeland"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"I_52qC D_FY W_6D6F\" data-test-id=\"message-view-body\">\n<div class=\"msg-body P_wpofO mq_AS\" data-test-id=\"message-view-body-content\">\n<div class=\"jb_0 X_6MGW N_6Fd5\">\n<div id=\"yiv5621298003\">\n<div>Some Canadian-based Nigerians have lamented corruption, banditry, kidnappings, killings in their country, explaining that the insecurity afflicting their homeland had affected its development.<\/p>\n<p>Angered by the worsened state of security in the country, representatives of the Concerned Nigerians in Canada, on Wednesday, stormed the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, \u00adOntario, Canada, to express their concern about the state of affairs in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters were seen carrying placards of different inscriptions, including \u2018Buhari, these killings must stop now!\u2019, \u2018Nigeria is worse than Afghanistan\u2019, \u2018Canadian government, please come to our rescue\u2019, \u2018Fulani herdsmen have taken over our land\u2019, \u2018Kidnapping, banditry and terrorists attack now a daily activity\u2019, \u2018Stop recycling insurgents Buhari\u2019, \u2018International community, come to our aid in Nigeria\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>During the demonstration, the protesters were seen delivering a communique to the Minister Counsellor\/Head of Chancery, Movement\/Deportation, Protocol Desk, Nigeria High Commission, Mohammed Ismaila.<\/p>\n<p>The communique, which was addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari was titled, \u2018Security Challenges in Nigeria\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The convener of the demonstration, Olujimi Adekanle, said in the communique that insecurity remained the major challenge hampering the socio-economic development of Nigeria, adding that the Transparency International ranked Nigeria 146th position in the Corruption Perception Index.<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n\u201cUnfortunately, insecurity is now multifaceted, leaching deadliest attacks on Nigerian communities and causing part of the economic problems, while the Federal Government of Nigeria plays politics with incertitude.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo part of the country is safe! No doubt, the APC government has failed the oath sworn, because you have not harnessed diverse resources to control the national economy in such a manner as to secure the maximum welfare, freedom and happiness of every citizen on the basis of social justice and equality of status and opportunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Adekanle stated that no fewer than 1,860,000 Nigerians had been displaced due to insecurity in the country, adding that Boko Haram insurgents, Fulani herdsmen, and bandits were waging war on Nigerian communities, abducting innocent school children and demanding outrageous amount as ransom,\u201d part of the communique read.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"jb_0 X_6MGW N_6Fd5\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"H_7jIs D_F ab_C Q_69H5 E_36RhU\" data-test-id=\"toolbar-hover-area\">\n<div class=\"D_F W_6D6F r_BN gl_C\" data-test-id=\"card-toolbar\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some Canadian-based Nigerians have lamented corruption, banditry, kidnappings, killings in their country, explaining that the insecurity afflicting their homeland had affected its development.
