Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Saturday urged the aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to give room for resolution of the crisis within the party.<\/div>\n

Our correspondent recalls that some aggrieved members of the party had last week passed a vote of no confidence on Makinde.<\/p>\n
\nThe aggrieved members accused the Governor of hijacking the party.<\/p>\n

The aggrieved members among whom were a former House of Representatives leader, Mulikat Adeola-Akande, former Deputy Governor, Azeem Gbolarumi and other stalwarts of the party vowed to work against the governor in the 2023 election.<\/p>\n

Makinde has however enjoined the aggrieved members to give room for resolution of the conflict within the party.<\/p>\n

He spoke during the ward congress of the party in Ibadan.<\/p>\n

Makinde said, \u201cI see that
\nthe people are excited. They want to be participants in the democratic process to select their leaders to run the affairs of the party at the ward level. So, for me, it is democracy in action.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd also with the fact that we have been in government slightly above two years now, the people are still excited about their party. It is something that calls for celebration for us.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, the exercise today went peacefully. I expect other congresses to be peaceful as well. Everywhere around the state, the people are excited because they are getting dividends of democracy. So, I believe the excitement is all over the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the PDP members in Oyo State, I want to ask them to stay unified because we can do quite a lot in unity.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd for some who are angry or aggrieved, let them bring their issues to the table, we will address them. Politics is about conflict and resolution of conflict within interaction of people.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
