{"id":86822,"date":"2021-10-08T12:51:34","date_gmt":"2021-10-08T11:51:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=86822"},"modified":"2021-10-08T12:51:34","modified_gmt":"2021-10-08T11:51:34","slug":"ex-jamb-registrar-prof-ojerinde-smiles-as-court-awards-him-fine-over-frivolous-adjournment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/ex-jamb-registrar-prof-ojerinde-smiles-as-court-awards-him-fine-over-frivolous-adjournment\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ojerinde, Smiles As Court Awards Him Fine Over Frivolous Adjournment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1713051599256056057\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Federal High Court, Abuja on Friday, ordered former Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, to pay a N100, 000 fine over his plea for an adjournment considered to be delaying trial commencement.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nJustice Obiora Egwuatu made the order after counsel to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Ebenezer Shogunle, prayed for an award of a fine in favour of one of the commission\u2019s witnesses, who travelled from Ibadan to testify in the money laundering trial.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier when the matter was called, Shogunle informed that the matter was slated for commencement of trial and that three of the ICPC\u2019s witnesses were in court.<\/p>\n<p>However, the new counsel to the former JAMB boss, Dr Doyin Awoyale, said his chamber was just being briefed to take over the matter and that he would need a little time to study the case.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; This is necessary in the view of the fact that the defendant just briefed a new set of lawyers led by Ibrahim Isyaku ,SAN.
