After Igboho\u2019s house in Ibadan, Oyo state was invaded by personnel of the\u00a0Department of State<\/span>\u00a0Services (DSS<\/span>) on July 1, 2021, the Yoruba\u00a0nation<\/span>\u00a0agitator<\/span>\u00a0was arrested with Ropo, his wife, at\u00a0Cardinal<\/span>Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, while fleeing to Germany on July 16, 2021. He has since been in\u00a0custody<\/span>\u00a0at a facility in Cotonou, Benin Republic.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by Alliyu on Friday, the lawyer said they are aware that a politician and one other person have been putting pressure on Igboho and his wife for permission to speak with the presidency so that they can secure his release in Benin Republic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been reliably\u00a0informed<\/span>\u00a0that some politicians are pressuring our\u00a0client\u00a0and his wife to give them endorsement to use at the presidency to justify their new\u00a0found love<\/span>and\/or defection to the All Progressives Congress and\/or curry affection from those in power,\u201d Alliyu said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet the whole world be aware, especially the presidency, that Sunday Adeyemo is totally apolitical with no special love or hatred for any political party as he has friends in all.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe however respects the six elected governors of the south-west states as authentic representatives of his Yoruba race. Any document purportedly signed by Igboho or his wife endorsing, empowering or making anybody his\u00a0mouthpiece<\/span>\u00a0other than his lead counsel should be disregarded and taken as fake.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is disheartening that a discredited politician with disreputable pedigree in Yoruba race and another retired\u00a0security<\/span>officer are pressurising our\u00a0client\u00a0and his wife to give them endorsements to Yoruba youths and the presidency without considering his unlawful incarceration in the Republic of Benin and health issues.\u201d<\/p>\n
