Journalists in their hundreds under the umbrella of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, penultimate Monday, engaged in a peaceful March over the mysterious disappearance of their colleague, Tordue Salem, who reports for Vanguard Newspapers.<\/div>\n

The march which culminated at the Police Headquarters in Abuja was also to hear, first-hand, what the nation’s security agency was doing to unravel the mystery and quickly resolve the issue.The journalists who carried placards with inscriptions such as \u2018Free Tordue now\u2019, \u2018Enough is enough\u2019, \u2018Stop violence against journalists\u2019, \u2018Free the press,\u2019 \u2018Journalists\u2019 lives matter\u2019 among others, also sang \u201cWe want Tordue back alive,\u201d among other songs.<\/p>\n

Chairman, NUJ, FCT council, Emmanuel Ogbeche, while addressing the journalists at the gate of the Police Headquarters, said all they wanted was for IGP Alkali Baba to come and state what the Force was doing about Tordue\u2019s disappearance.<\/p>\n

He said the Police boss must put all necessary apparatus in place to find Tordue Salem alive so he can reunite with his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cKeep faith,\u201d he urged the journalists, \u201cbe law abiding as it is not time to fight or be violent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that Tordue passed the night in his sister\u2019s house on October 12, left for the National Assembly on October 13, and was last seen by colleagues on the beat between 4pm and 5pm that same day.<\/p>\n

His disappearance was reported to the Police on the 15th, with the IGP giving instruction that no human or material resources should be spared in investigating the case.<\/p>\n
