The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors\u2019 Forum and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, said the PDP was making every effort to come back to power in 2023.<\/div>\n

\nTambuwal, alongside Governors of Oyo, Rivers, and Abia states, Seyi Makinde, Nysom Wike, and Okezie Ikpeazu, respectively, was in Ondo town, Ondo State, on Thursday, to meet with a former governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko; a former Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Agboola Ajayi; a former commissioner, Gboye Adegbenro and some other politicians.<\/p>\n

Speaking with journalists after the meeting held at Mimiko\u2019s residence in Ondo, the Sokoto Governor, said the PDP had commenced an aggressive mission to rescue Nigeria from its current situation.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cWe are to reposition the country and to ensure that the PDP is back to power in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here in Ondo town, the residence of our leader, Olusegun Mimiko, to re-invite him to his political family, the PDP and as you can see, we have governors from Rivers, Oyo, and Abia states and we have had a robust engagement with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very hopeful that we are going to have a positive response from him soonest. Our message is simple, let us come back together to reposition the PDP towards rescuing Nigeria now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also speaking, Mimiko who had expressed his readiness to re-join the PDP, together with Agboola Ajayi and other politicians from other parties, said the meeting was successful but that they would have to meet with their supporters and other stakeholders before defecting officially.<\/p>\n

Mimiko said, \u201cThis is the one of a series of interactions we had over two months ago and they have come at least to convince us why we should come back to join forces with them in the PDP. We have listened to them, we will go back to our stakeholders\u2019 meeting because it is the stakeholders that will decide before we will take our final decision on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Mimiko and Ajayi were members of the PDP and later went to other parties including the Zenith Labour Party. The duo is now ready to return to their former party, the PDP.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
