{"id":87805,"date":"2021-10-30T19:57:49","date_gmt":"2021-10-30T18:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=87805"},"modified":"2021-10-30T19:57:49","modified_gmt":"2021-10-30T18:57:49","slug":"after-55-days-ex-akwa-ibom-senator-effiong-regains-freedom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/after-55-days-ex-akwa-ibom-senator-effiong-regains-freedom\/","title":{"rendered":"After 55 Days, Ex-Akwa Ibom Senator, Effiong, Regains Freedom"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m16438\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">Senator Nelson Effiong has regained his freedom, after spending 55 days in captivity.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal  \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\nEffiong, who represented Eket senatorial district in the 8th Assembly, was kidnapped at his lounge at Oron road, Uyo, the state capital by unknown gunmen on September 05, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>His abductors had allegedly demanded a ransom of N200million from the family but it was not certain if the family paid any ransom for Senator Effiong\u2019s release.<\/p>\n<p>There had been speculations that he may have been killed by his abductors following his prolonged stay in the kidnappers\u2019 den but the publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom, Sampson Enyongekere, in a press release on Saturday said Effiong was released on Friday, October 30, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads in part, \u201cThe All Progressives Congress Akwa Ibom State Chapter wishes to intimate the APC family and the general public of the release of Sen Nelson Effiong who was kidnapped on September 05, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; The Senator gained his freedom just yesterday (Friday, October 30, 2021) from the enclave and grip of the men of the underworld. It is our deepest concern as a party to register our sincere gratitude to God Almighty and all who contributed in one way or the other to facilitate his release and return to his family and party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe humbly pray to God to accord you all the commensurable blessings you deserve for identifying with us throughout the period of the predicament.
