The Federal University Lokoja has said it has engaged the services of 60 hunters to help with campus security.<\/div>\n

\nThe Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, said this on Monday at a press briefing to mark the commencement of the school\u2019s fifth convocation ceremonies, which starts on Monday, November 8 to Sunday, November 14, 2021.<\/p>\n

Akinwumi said the abduction of university staff in different parts of the country necessitated the move to employ hunters while adding that students would not be allowed into their hostels until the institution is satisfied with the security on its premises.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cThe management of this institution will not toy with the security of students and staff of the university. We have seen what happened just recently in some tertiary institutions in the country where professors and their children were kidnapped on the campuses.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have engaged over 60 hunters and they have mapped out areas where criminals can use as an escape route and we will block those areas. Until we are satisfied with the security here in the permanent site of the university, we will not move students to the hostels for now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Vice-Chancellor added that the hunters were brought on board to complement the efforts of the police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in providing adequate security to the staff and students of the school.<\/p><\/div>\n

\nAkinwumi also disclosed that 804 students would be conferred with degrees and postgraduate diplomas, while eminent personalities who have contributed to the development of Nigeria would be awarded honorary degrees.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
