{"id":88274,"date":"2021-11-09T07:37:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-09T06:37:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=88274"},"modified":"2021-11-09T07:37:16","modified_gmt":"2021-11-09T06:37:16","slug":"human-trafficking-nigeria-cote-divoire-move-to-tackle-menace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/human-trafficking-nigeria-cote-divoire-move-to-tackle-menace\/","title":{"rendered":"Human Trafficking: Nigeria, Cote d\u2019Ivoire Move To Tackle Menace"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1715928625368648240\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nigeria has signed a cooperation agreement with the Republic of Cote d\u2019Ivoire to prevent, suppress, and punish trafficking in persons especially in women and children.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\nThis was the highpoint of the second session of the Ivorian-Nigerian Joint Commission of Cooperation, which was held from 4th to 6th November 2021, in Abidjan.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued by the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), it said the agreement, which is designed to deepen collaboration and mutual cooperation between the two countries, would be implemented by the agency on behalf of the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>NAPTIP said the objective of the agreement is to develop a common front to prevent and punish trafficking in persons by sharing of intelligence and sensitisation campaigns in both countries; to protect, rehabilitate and reintegrate victims of trafficking into their original environment and to promote friendly cooperation between both countries.<\/p>\n<p>The high-level delegation from Nigeria was led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, minister of state for foreign affairs, Ambassador Zuberu Dada, minister of state for industry, trade and investment, Ambassador Mariam Katagum, the director-general of NAPTIP, Dr Fatima Waziri-Azi.<\/p>\n<div id=\"m_-6441210087965668818ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nigeria has signed a cooperation agreement with the Republic of Cote d\u2019Ivoire to prevent, suppress, and punish trafficking in persons especially in women and children.
