{"id":89213,"date":"2021-11-28T07:55:57","date_gmt":"2021-11-28T06:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=89213"},"modified":"2021-11-28T07:55:57","modified_gmt":"2021-11-28T06:55:57","slug":"explore-alternative-funding-buhari-urges-universities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/explore-alternative-funding-buhari-urges-universities\/","title":{"rendered":"Explore Alternative Funding, Buhari Urges Universities"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m21781\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Against the backdrop that subventions from government are no longer meeting their entire needs, President Muhammadu Buhari urged universities in the country to explore other sources of funding to bridge the shortage.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal  \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\nSpeaking at the 56th and 47th convocation ceremony of the University of Benin, Edo State, Buhari said his administration would however continue to ensure complete budgetary releases for the education sector.<\/p>\n<p>Represented by the director, Tertiary Department of the Ministry of Education, Mrs Rakiya Ilyasu Gambo, Buhari while commending the efforts of universities in expanding the horizon for young people through moral rectitude and training to be more entrepreneurial in outlook said the federal government had not relented in finding lasting solutions to the mirage of challenges facing universities as well as the nation\u2019s education sector.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; The federal government is aware of the deficit in funding and infrastructure. Concerted efforts are being made to improve the current conditions, it is also imperative that universities should come to terms with the present realities including the challenge of inadequate funding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile government would continue to ensure the full implementation of budgetary provisions for the education sector, universities must also evolve other ways of augmenting what they receive as allocation and grants.
