The Oregon Court of Appeals has ruled that the city police in southwestern Oregon can get a cash prize of $1,000,000 originally awarded to a woman who authorities say bought a lottery ticket through illegal means.<\/p>\n
The local news media reports that 45-year-old Christina Elizabeth Goodenow argued that stripping her of the profits was excessive punishment.<\/p>\n
Goodenow stole the identity of the deceased mother of her boyfriend, and used her Visa card to make $12,000 in purchases, including the winning lottery ticket. She did not object to the crimes and was sentenced to probation.<\/p>\n
