{"id":90123,"date":"2021-12-21T08:19:06","date_gmt":"2021-12-21T07:19:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=90123"},"modified":"2021-12-21T08:19:06","modified_gmt":"2021-12-21T07:19:06","slug":"togo-benin-niger-paid-nothing-for-nigerias-power-supply-says-nerc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/togo-benin-niger-paid-nothing-for-nigerias-power-supply-says-nerc\/","title":{"rendered":"Togo, Benin, Niger Paid Nothing For Nigeria\u2019s Power Supply, Says NERC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1719738983429112920\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says the Republic of Benin, Niger Republic, Togo made no payment for the electricity supplied to them from Nigeria in the second quarter of 2021.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe commission disclosed this in its second-quarter report for 2021.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe report stated the neighbouring countries and other special customers were issued a total bill of N770 million by the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading company and the Market Operator of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the quarter under review, NBET and MO issued a total of N0.77bn in respect of energy sold by NBET and services rendered by MO to the special (Ajaokuta Steel Co. Ltd and other bilateral customers) and international customers (Societe Nigerienne d\u2019electricite \u2013 NIGELEC, Societe Beninoise d\u2019Energie Electrique \u2013 SBEE and Compagnie Energie Electrique du Togo\u2013 CEET),\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo payment was made by these customers during the quarter under review.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is hoped that as the economy of these customers improves post-COVID-19 lockdown so that they will resume the settlement of their bills in full.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to NERC, apart from Eko Disco, none of the other Discos met their expected minimum remittance thresholds to NBET in the quarter under review.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the second quarter of 2021, a total invoice of N259.7 billion was issued to the eleven Discos for energy received from the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc and for service charge by MO, out of which a sum of N130.11 billion was settled, representing remittance performance of 50.11 percent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis represents a 1.78 percentage point decrease from the final settlement rate recorded in the first quarter of 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApart from Eko Disco, none of the other DisCos met their expected minimum remittance thresholds (\u201cMRTs\u201d) to NBET in the quarter under review.
