{"id":90205,"date":"2021-12-26T22:00:36","date_gmt":"2021-12-26T21:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=90205"},"modified":"2021-12-26T22:00:36","modified_gmt":"2021-12-26T21:00:36","slug":"abia-nurtw-official-accuses-ikpeazus-chief-of-staff-agbazuere-of-being-a-fake-professor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/abia-nurtw-official-accuses-ikpeazus-chief-of-staff-agbazuere-of-being-a-fake-professor\/","title":{"rendered":"Abia NURTW Official accuses Ikpeazu\u2019s Chief of Staff, Agbazuere, of being a fake Professor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8230; threatens to petition NUC<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">An official of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, in Abia State, Mr. Peter Asagwara, has accused the Chief of Staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Anthony Agbazuere , of being a fake Professor and threatened to petition the National Universities Commission (NUC) if he continues to attach the title to his name.Agbazuere who is a former Commissioner in the State , was on April 2021, conferred with a professorial rank by the Gregory University Uturu, Abia State.<\/p>\n<p>Asagwara, who is the Secretary of the transport Union in Ugwunagbo LGA, alleged that Agbazuere has never been a full time lecturer in any university in Nigeria or overseas and ought not to be addressed as a Professor.<\/p>\n<p>He challenged the Chief of Staff to provide books, journals and articles credited to his name with which he was assessed before he was conferred with a professorship title.<\/p>\n<p>Describing professorship as an exalted position in the academic world, Asagwara insisted that Agbazuere cannot mention any institution where he has been a senior lecturer in his lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe cannot mention any institution where he has been a Dean or even Head of Department (HOD) in his lifetime. He cannot mention any institution where he has taught students in a semester up to and or even more than 10 times. Anthony Agbazuere in every sense of judgment is not due for professorship, how much more parading himself as a professor. Has Agbazuere been a full time lecturer? If yes , which university? Has he been a HOD or Dean of any faculty in any university? Can someone be a professor without being a full time lecturer? Agbazuere has only been a part time lecturer in Abia State University. Do part time lecturers do assessment for promotion?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NURTW official gave Gregory University seven days ultimatum to save its image by withdrawing the undue professorship it conferred on Agbazuere, stressing that the professorship negates all standard academic practices everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIm giving Gregory University 7 days ultimatum to withdraw the undue professorship it conferred o Anthony Agbazuere because it negates the standard academic practices. Failure to do this, I will forward petitions signed by a good number of well meaning Abians to the National Universities Commission and all other relevant authorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow then did he become a professor if not through the backyard?<\/p>\n<p>On the 20th day of April, 2021, the Gregory University, Uturu, confirmed Agbazuere as a Professor of law right in his house in Umuahia. Report has it that some delegates of the University visited him in his house and gave him professorship like an award, which negates all academic tenets and standard practices all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnthony Agbazuere in every sense of judgment is not due for professorship, how much more parading himself as a professor. There are procedures of becoming a professor and that is why I have challenged Anthony Agbazuere to produce of his professorship. I have also called the owner of the Gregory University, Professor Greg Ibe on the action I\u2019m going to take. I\u2019m going to approach the court for an order of mandamus compelling the University to bring the evaluation and assessment that made them award him a professor. The owner told me to calm down that he will reach out to Agbazuere. Since then, Agbazuere has been calling me to stop saying that he is not a professor, but I warned him not to tell me such.
