{"id":90396,"date":"2022-01-06T09:18:07","date_gmt":"2022-01-06T08:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=90396"},"modified":"2022-01-06T09:18:07","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T08:18:07","slug":"dhq-moves-to-prosecute-politicians-wearing-military-uniforms-for-campaigns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/dhq-moves-to-prosecute-politicians-wearing-military-uniforms-for-campaigns\/","title":{"rendered":"DHQ Moves To Prosecute Politicians Wearing Military Uniforms For Campaigns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said it has noticed with dismay that some politicians have formed the habit of wearing military uniforms and accoutrements for electioneering campaign posters.<\/p>\n<p>According to the DHQ, the campaign posters of some Governors, dressed in military camouflage uniforms, are displayed in noticeable areas in their respective states.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is manifestly illegal and an abuse of the privilege of allowing civilians wear military uniforms during military training exercises,&#8221; a statement issued by acting Director, Defence Information on 5 January 2022, Air Commodore WAP Maigida said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is necessary to restate that the Armed Forces of Nigeria, as a professional institution, remains apolitical and, as such, would not want to be dragged into any form of political bias.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Accordingly, it is important to advise politicians and others to desist from the use of military uniforms and accoutrements for political events and other engagements henceforth.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Please note, anyone found culpable in this regard would be liable to prosecution, &#8221; the DHQ warned.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said it has noticed with dismay that some politicians have formed the habit of wearing military uniforms and accoutrements for electioneering campaign posters.
