{"id":90954,"date":"2022-01-19T17:28:54","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T16:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=90954"},"modified":"2022-01-19T17:28:54","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T16:28:54","slug":"idp-commits-suicide-after-being-raped-by-ngo-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/idp-commits-suicide-after-being-raped-by-ngo-official\/","title":{"rendered":"IDP Commits Suicide After Being \u2018Raped By NGO Official"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Aisha Umar,\u00a0 a female Internally Displaced Person (IDP) in Borno State, has taken her life after allegedly being raped by an official of an International Non-Governmental Organisation (name withheld).<\/p>\n<p>The deceased, who was into menial jobs for survival, was reportedly lured to the apartment of the suspect at 303 Housing Estate, near Dalori IDP camp, Maiduguri, under the guise of cleaning the place.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe suspect identified as Huzaif Adam, 35,\u00a0 was said to have forcefully had sex with her when she came into his apartment.<\/p>\n<p>According to a source, the victim\u2019s cry for help attracted neighbours to Adam\u2019s apartment, but he had already raped her by then.<\/p>\n<p>The neighbours were said to have forced his door open.<\/p>\n<p>The source said the victim, who was traumatised rushed to Adam\u2019s kitchen where she picked up a knife that she used to stab herself.<\/p>\n<p>She died moments later at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer, who confirmed the incident to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/pointblanknews.com&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1642695883314000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3WOjVlaPhirSt7Q5-4h_Uf\">pointblanknews.com<\/a>, said\u00a0 the suspect was detained at Gwange Division of Borno Police Command after his arrest but he was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe arrested the perpetrator but he has now been transferred to the SCID. His case file is in Gwange Divisional of Police,\u201d the officer said.<\/p>\n<p>Executive Director\u00a0 Women in the New Nigeria and Youth Empowerment initiative, Comrade Lucy D Yunana,\u00a0 said she visited both Gwange Police Station and University of Maiduguri to ascertain the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was contacted via my office and I called Commissioner of Sport after. The incident happened around our Area 303\/202 EFCC area. I saw the perpetrator and interviewed him, and also saw the corpse of the innocent girl at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).
