{"id":91124,"date":"2022-01-24T21:21:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-24T20:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=91124"},"modified":"2022-01-24T21:21:00","modified_gmt":"2022-01-24T20:21:00","slug":"san-six-other-lawyers-to-face-panel-over-conflicting-court-orders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/san-six-other-lawyers-to-face-panel-over-conflicting-court-orders\/","title":{"rendered":"SAN, six other lawyers to face panel over conflicting court orders"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1722864117388805194\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Seven senior lawyers, including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), are to face trial before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) over their alleged involvement in the issuance of conflicting orders by a court in the cases involving the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, Mr Olumide Akpata, who revealed this on Monday in Abuja said a committee set up by the association to identify the lawyers involved submitted its report last month.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nAkpata, who was silent on the names of the lawyers, said the NBA would, within the next two weeks, refer the erring legal practitioners to the LPDC for trial.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cThey are about seven in number. We are going to file a petition at the LPDC, and this will happen within the next two weeks.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cYou will get their names when we file the petition. They are seven lawyers from across the country. There is a Senior Advocate among them,\u201d Akpata said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nAkpata also spoke on plans for the 2022 Justice Sector Summit scheduled for Abuja on January 25 by the NBA in collaboration with other organisations.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nHe said the summit is intended for stakeholders in the nation\u2019s justice sector, including the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo; Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, among others to examine the many challenges affecting the Judiciary and come up with workable solutions.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cThe Justice Sector Summit 2022, which is themed: \u201cDevising practical solutions towards improved performance, enhanced accountability,\u201d is organised by the NBA and the Justice Research Institute (JRI) in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the Justice Reform Project (JRP).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cWe are expecting the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN; the Senate President, Sen. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon.
