The recent peace moves by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to resolve the lingering crisis in the Kano State chapter of the party have hit the rocks.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Group of Seven (G-7) led by the former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau has rejected the template for the harmonisation of the party structure in the state.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In a letter addressed to the Caretaker Chairman of the party, Governor Mala Buni, a copy of which was made available to The Star on Tuesday, the Shekarau-led group accused the party leadership of failure to reflect the submissions\/proposals made by both sides relating to the proposed composition of harmonised leadership of the party in Kano State at all levels.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The signatories to the letter are Senators Shekarau and Barau Jibrin; members of the House of Representatives \u2013 Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Nasiru Abduwa Gabasawa, Haruna Dederi and Sha\u2019aban Sharada, as well as the Chairman, Buhari Support Group, Shehu Dalhatu.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In the letter titled \u201cRe: Guidelines for the Harmonization of the Party Structure in Kano\u201d, the aggrieved members said the content of Buni\u2019s letter is totally unacceptable to them.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The letter read: \u201cWe, the undersigned, hereby write to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated 7th February 2022 in respect of the above subject matter, which was submitted to the Leader of our Forum, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau (Sardaunan Kano).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cOnce again, we appreciate your tireless concern and efforts to \u201crestore sanity and bring back unity of purpose and re-enact the trust among the APC, Kano State family.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cYou may wish to recall that since the commencement of the reconciliation moves, several meetings were held at your instance and submissions made by both sides relating to the proposed composition of harmonised leadership of our party in Kano State at all levels.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cWe had anticipated that the communication from you would be reflective of the proposals and \/or submissions made to you.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cRegrettably however, your said letter to us never contained the proposals and \/or submissions put forward by both sides, nor even made specific reference to them.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cFurthermore, to our utter dismay and disenchantment, the letter had even gone viral in the social media emanating from Kano State Government circles even before reaching us, mischievously paraded as conclusive evidence that the party would be surrendered to the \u201cHE Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje faction.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cIn the circumstances therefore, we are constrained to notify you Sir, that the entirety of the content of your letter is totally unacceptable to us.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cOnce more, we wish to reiterate our firm commitment to the promotion and preservation of the integrity of our great party and its leadership.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cWe wish you Allah\u2019s guidance and protection as you continue to pilot the affairs of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The party had on Monday set up a peace committee tagged \u2018The National\/State Joint Supervisory Committee\u2019 headed by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and assisted by Senator Shekarau.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Other members of the committee are Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara, Hon. Yakubu Dogara and Sen. Abba Ali.<\/div>\n
The committee was expected to sit in Kano for seven days within which to complete and submit its report.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Governor Buni\u2019s letter further gave terms of reference of the caucus formation at local government and state levels.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Each local government caucus will meet and come up with a proposed structure for all wards and local government.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The proposed structure will be forwarded to the Joint National\/State Committee for final vetting or amendment, as the case may be.<\/div>\n
It noted that all caucuses were restricted to only their local government areas.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
According to the letter, the caucus shall have the following as members, serving senators and House of Reps Members from the local government, if any.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Others were serving members of state assembly, serving chairman and his deputy and commissioner.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The rest were Special Advisers from the area and one woman to be nominated by the governor in consultation with Senator Shekarau.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The letter indicated that the National\/State Joint Committee reserves the right to adopt or amend any proposal submitted to it by the local government caucus.<\/div>\n
