{"id":92162,"date":"2022-02-24T21:08:02","date_gmt":"2022-02-24T20:08:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=92162"},"modified":"2022-02-24T21:08:02","modified_gmt":"2022-02-24T20:08:02","slug":"court-orders-interim-seizure-of-okorochas-abuja-property","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/court-orders-interim-seizure-of-okorochas-abuja-property\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Orders Interim Seizure Of Okorocha\u2019s Abuja Property."},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1725668554074473085\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Thursday, February 24, 2022, ordered the interim forfeiture of a property at Plot 1032 &amp; 1033 Cadastral Zone AO3, Takum Close, Off Michika Street, Ahmadu Bello Way, Garki Abuja, reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities of former Imo State governor, Senator Rochas Anayo Okorocha.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nJustice Emeka Nweti gave the order while ruling on a motion ex-parte brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, pursuant to section 44(2) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No. 14 2006, seeking the forfeiture of the property on the grounds that it was acquired illegally.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Commission stated that its investigation had revealed that sometime in 2018, Abtisal Global Ltd and Archivisual Solution Ltd, companies in which Okorocha is believed to have interest, received N222, 000,000 from the Imo State Government Treasury to develop and improve on the said property<\/p>\n<p>In the ruling, the court directed that the interim forfeiture Order be published in the national dailies, alerting anyone with interest in the property to show cause why it should not be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Justice Nweti adjourned till April 13, 2022 for consideration of the motion for final forfeiture of the property.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Thursday, February 24, 2022, ordered the interim forfeiture of a property at Plot 1032 &amp; 1033 Cadastral Zone AO3, Takum Close, Off Michika&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":92163,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-92162","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exclusive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
