{"id":92252,"date":"2022-02-27T10:44:25","date_gmt":"2022-02-27T09:44:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=92252"},"modified":"2022-02-27T10:44:25","modified_gmt":"2022-02-27T09:44:25","slug":"russia-ukraine-crisis-what-poland-said-about-stopping-nigerians-from-entering-their-country-oby-ezekwesili","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/russia-ukraine-crisis-what-poland-said-about-stopping-nigerians-from-entering-their-country-oby-ezekwesili\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia-Ukraine crisis: What Poland said about stopping Nigerians from entering their country \u2013 Oby Ezekwesili"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1725902559333358873\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nigeria\u2019s former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili has said that she has gotten answers to reports that Poland is not allowing Nigerians fleeing Ukraine to enter their country.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nWar broke out in Ukraine on Thursday as the country mounts resistance to Russian soldiers\u2019 invasion of major cities on the order of President Vladimir Putin.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nNigerians and nationals of other countries are now entering Poland and other neighbouring nations for safety.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nHowever, the Nigerian Government on Thursday expressed concern over Poland\u2018s refusal to allow Nigerians fleeing Ukraine into the country.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, raised the concern on behalf of the government during a meeting with envoys of European Union countries over the Russia-Ukraine crisis.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nAnd Dr Ezekwesili also shared her worries over the issue but added that the Polish government said that Nigerians are allowed to enter their country and stay for only 15 days.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cI went in search of *Answers* to disturbing news we\u2019ve been reading about Nigerians seeking entry into Poland,\u201d she tweeted.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cIf you are Nigerian, got to any Border Control in Poland and were turned back by Polish immigration officials, can you DM a scanned copy of your passport, please.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cBesides the long wait time (estimated as three days for some) at borders, the Polish authorities stated that our citizens are freely allowed entry into Poland and can stay for only 15 days and then leave their territory.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cIf you were turned down, please send your passport details.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nShe added, \u201cFurther informed that:<br \/>\n\u201c\u2019Nigerian officials from the Embassy in Poland are at the border with transport for Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cOnce you cross the border from Ukraine into Poland, please shout out to be located.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cNo sealed lips.
