The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has established a special unit within the church to encourage and support those considering or already involved in politics.<\/div>\n

Though there has been no formal declaration to the effect, Pointblanknews.com reports that
\nvarious interest groups across the country have stepped up their support for him.<\/p>\n

Pointblanknews.com also reports that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is a member and pastor of the RCCG.<\/p>\n

The newly formed directorate, according to the church, would coordinate the affairs and actions of members interested in running for political office in 2023.<\/p>\n

The RCCG also announced the appointment of Pastor Timothy Olaniyan, a Pastor in Charge of Province (PICP) of Lagos Province 12, as the directorate\u2019s head, and instructed pastors at all levels to designate personnel to manage the new directorate.<\/p>\n

The news about the establishment of the new directorate was made in a memo with reference number RCCG\/AGO\/ADM\/AA.MEMO\/20\/01\/2022, and dated February 28, signed by the Assistant General Overseer (Admin\/Personnel) Pastor J. F. Odesola.<\/p>\n

The memo reads in part: \u201cWe write to formally notify you that the mission authority has created the Office of Directorate of Politics and Governance in the RCCG. Further to this, Pastor Timothy Olaniyan (PICP Lagos Province 12) has been appointed to lead the office.<\/p>\n

” You are kindly requested to appoint with immediate effect a Provincial Officer for your province and also ensure that the same is done at all levels of the church \u2013 zone, area and parish. The essence of this directorate is to help coordinate the engagement of our people who are willing to be involved in politics as well as mobilize support for them when required.\u201d<\/p>\n

The details of those nominated to coordinate the activities of the directorate are to be forwarded to the Office of the Assistant General Overseer (Admin\/Personnel) of the RCCG.<\/p>\n
