{"id":93181,"date":"2022-03-24T13:04:05","date_gmt":"2022-03-24T12:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=93181"},"modified":"2022-03-24T13:04:05","modified_gmt":"2022-03-24T12:04:05","slug":"efcc-releases-obianoconfiscates-passport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/efcc-releases-obianoconfiscates-passport\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC releases Obiano,confiscates passport"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released Willie Obiano, immediate past governor of Anambra state, on administrative bail.<\/p>\n<p>An EFCC also confirmed that the former governor was released on Wednesday but that his \u201cpassport was seized by the anti-graft agency as part of his bail conditions\u201d.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nObiano was taken into custody hours after he attended the inauguration of Chukuwuma Soludo as governor of Anambra, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The former governor, who ended his tenure on Wednesday, was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, he was transferred from the EFCC custody in Lagos to Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC is alleging that Obiano was arrested for misappropriation of public funds, including, N5 billion Sure-P and N37 billion security vote which was withdrawn in cash.<\/p>\n<p>Abdulrasheed Bawa, EFCC chairman, had on Monday said Obiano had been granted bail but was yet to fulfil the bail conditions.<\/p><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cHe (referring to Obiano) has been granted bail. We are waiting for him to fulfil his bail conditions.
