The Lagos State Government has shut down the Medville Global Health Centre after investigation into the complaints of a man, Chibuike Nwachukwu, regarding his wife\u2019s death during childbirth at the hospital.<\/div>\n

\nThe state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, confirmed the development in a series of tweets late Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He noted that the Executive Secretary, Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, Dr Abiola Idowu, disclosed that the hospital, located on Bashiru Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota, was sealed for not complying with set standards.<\/p>\n

Idowu was quoted to have said, \u201cA team of HEFAMAA monitors was yesterday deployed in the facility to investigate the demise of the wife of one Mr Triplem C. Mchaty (Chibuike) who tweeted on April 3, 2022, alleging that his wife had passed on at the hospital as a result of the facility\u2019s incompetence.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\u201cShe stated that preliminary investigations carried out by the team revealed that the hospital is not registered with HEFAMAA. This, she said, contravened the 2006 Health Sector Reform Law. It means the facility was operating illegally.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe added that the team also discovered that the hospital had inadequate personnel. She disclosed that the Chairman, Dr Mrs Solanke Koya, ordered a full-scale investigation to uncover the facts of the death.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

Chibuike accused medical practitioners at the hospital of negligence when his wife, Vivian, was to put to bed.<\/p>\n

The telecommunications engineer said his wife, who went into labour in the afternoon, was considered for a caesarean section at midnight.<\/p><\/div>\n

\nHe noted that when the doctors requested blood during the operation, the hospital had no ambulance, as he had to book an Uber ride to convey his sister to the Isolo General Hospital to purchase blood.<\/p>\n

Lamenting that Vivian died during the procedure, he said the baby his wife had was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Surulere.<\/p>\n

A representative of the hospital, Chinasa Cyril, however, said Vivian\u2019s death was caused by uterine atrophy.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
