{"id":93765,"date":"2022-04-07T17:23:37","date_gmt":"2022-04-07T16:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=93765"},"modified":"2022-04-07T17:23:37","modified_gmt":"2022-04-07T16:23:37","slug":"lagos-father-smashes-babys-head-burns-house-blames-evil-spirits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/lagos-father-smashes-babys-head-burns-house-blames-evil-spirits\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Father Smashes Baby\u2019s Head, Burns House, Blames Evil Spirits\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1729467143885465759\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A father, Benedict Anieze, has smashed the skull of his one-month-old baby at their residence in the Pipeline area of Idimu, Lagos State.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nPointblanknews.com gathered that Benedict was at home with his family on Sunday, April 3, when he suddenly picked up his baby girl and forcefully smashed her head on the ground.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe victim\u2019s skull was said to have broken, as she died on the spot.<br \/>\nHowever, in a bid to conceal the crime, Benedict reportedly set the apartment ablaze and took to his heels.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nA source, while condemning Benedict\u2019s action, said his wife was a minor.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe source said, \u201cThe mother of the baby was jittery because of what happened; she was at home with her husband when he suddenly carried the baby and smashed her on the ground.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cHe even set the house on fire after what he did. He wanted to conceal the crime but the neighbours, who saw the fire, quickly intervened and put it out. The mother of the baby is just 17-year-old.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nAngered by the incident, the neighbours were said to have urged the distraught mother to report the incident to the nearest police station.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">While some of them accompanied her to the station, others formed a search party to look for the suspect.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nBloodstain was seen at the site of the baby\u2019s broken skull.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nHe stated that the police alongside neighbours tracked down the suspect to a location in the area, where he was arrested.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nThe PPRO noted that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for further investigation.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\nHundeyin said, \u201cThere was no argument between him and his wife. He said he was possessed by evil spirits when he smashed the baby on the ground. He also set the house ablaze and ran away.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n\u201cThe wife cried out and after putting out the fire, they brought her to the station.
