As the dust is yet to settle over the alleged anointing of Prof. Uche Ikonne as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election; the Ukwa\/Ngwa Council of Elders, insist that Ikonne\u2019s endorsement for the position is to balance the 16 years of power held by the Old Bende zone.<\/div>\n

\nThe Ukwa la Ngwa Council of Elders showered blessings on Prof. Ikonne for victory in the 2023 governorship election.<\/p>\n

Leader of the council, Dr. Max Nduaguibe while receiving Ikonne and his campaign organization during the council\u2019s meeting at Umuezenta Mbawsi, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, stated that the Ukwa\/Ngwa people cannot be intimidated by other clan from actualizing their mission of producing next governor of the state of Ngwa extraction.<\/p>\n

\nHe assured that the council is fully in support of Ikonne to emerge the next governor of the state in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ukwa\/Ngwa people cannot be intimidated by other clans from actualizing their mission of producing the next governor of the state of Ngwa extraction. Ukwa\/Ngwa Elders\u2019 council is fully in support of Prof. Uche Ikonne to emerge as the next governor of the state in 2023.\u201d<\/p>\n

In their speeches, the Deputy chief of staff, office of the Deputy Governor, Chief Don Ubani; a traditional ruler from Aba south LGA, Eze Monday Ugbo and the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Abia Polytechnic, Aba, Elder John Nwangborogwu, said Ikonne\u2019s endorsement by the people of Ukwa la Ngwa is to equitably balance the 16years of governance of state by the Old Bende Division.<\/p>\n

While appealing to other aspirants from Ukwa la Ngwa to form a united front to actualize the cause for next governor of the state of Ngwa extraction, the Elders tasked Ikonne to extend hands of friendship to them to achieve the desired goal.<\/p>\n

The council also tasked Ikonne to replicate the remarkable achievements he recorded as VC, ABSU through his \u2018Our story must change mantra\u2019 in the governance of the state.<\/p>\n

Responding, Prof. Ikonne stated that the people of Ukwa\/Ngwa must not lose this opportunity of producing the next governor.<\/p>\n

He assured that the state will experience positive impacts during his administration come May 29, 2023, stressing that integrity, performance value & diligence will be his watchwords.<\/p>\n

In a vote of thanks, ex chief whip of the state House of Assembly, Dr. Ikechukwu Nwabeke\u00a0commended Prof. Ikonne for finding it fit to visit the Elders Council of Ukwa la Ngwa and wished him success in his mission.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
