Former governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has declared his intention to contest for the post of the president in 2023.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
His formal declaration will be made on Thursday, May 5, at the Shehu Musa Yar\u2019Adua Centre, Abuja.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The senator representing Ogun Central district made his intention known in a letter to the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, and read during Wednesday\u2019s plenary.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The letter is titled \u201cNotification and invitation to the formal declaration of contest for the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress APC.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It reads: \u201cIt is with greatest respect I write to notify you and my distinguished colleagues of my intention to contest for the office of the President of our dear country, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and to respectfully invite you and my distinguished colleagues to the formal declaration ceremony.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cI have been blessed by God to serve as senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 2003 and 2007 and as a two-term Governor of Ogun between 2011 and 2019.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cI have also had the privilege to be elected a second time to the Senate of the Federal Republic in 2019 where I currently serve the good people of Ogun Central Senatorial District.<\/div>\n
