{"id":94587,"date":"2022-05-05T14:32:54","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T13:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=94587"},"modified":"2022-05-05T14:32:54","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T13:32:54","slug":"police-take-over-abia-pdp-headquarters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/police-take-over-abia-pdp-headquarters\/","title":{"rendered":"Police take over Abia PDP headquarters"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">A detachment of policemen have taken\u00a0 over the Abia state\u00a0 secretariat of the\u00a0 Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) ,in\u00a0 Umuahia.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The policemen prevented staff and visitors from entering the secretariat.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Pointblanknews.com gathered that the police presence at the secretariat is linked to the protest and counter protest by some members of the PDP who accused the state chairman of the party of hoarding forms for the 3 man delegate election in favor of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu&#8217;s anointed candidate, Prof. Uche Ikonne.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0The situation has polarized the party into two camps with those for and against Ikpeazu and Ikonne.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Those opposed to the Governor and his anointed candidate, want a free and fair 3 man delegate election, accusing the party chairman of hijacking the sale of forms. They want the national leadership of the party to cancel the 3 man delegate election and use the statutory delegates to conduct the PDP primaries.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Spokesman of Abia PDP, Mr. Fabian Nwankwo, who described the police presence as normal, also said the party decided to observe a one day rest and directed its officials and workers to stay at home.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">But another chieftain of the party told Pointblanknews.com that the state PDP leadership invited the police to check the increasing protests at the secretariat following the persistent calls for the removal of the party chairman.<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A detachment of policemen have taken\u00a0 over the Abia state\u00a0 secretariat of the\u00a0 Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) ,in\u00a0 Umuahia.
