Commission, EFCC, has arraigned two fake aides of former First Lady,
\nPatience Jonathan: Goni Muhammad and Seidu Seriki Haman before Justice
\nKumaliya of the Borno State High Court, sitting in Maiduguri.<\/p>\n

They were arraigned on Monday, May 16, 2022 on\u00a0 two- count charges
\nbordering on\u00a0 conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of
\nN26, 492,000.00 (Twenty Six Million, Four Hundred and Ninety Two
\nThousand Naira).<\/p>\n

The defendants allegedly conspired\u00a0 and obtained the above mentioned
\nsum, under the guise of selling\u00a0 two grams\u00a0 of gold belonging to a
\nformer First Lady,\u00a0 \u00a0Patience Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to a buyer.<\/p>\n

Count two of the charge read: “That you, Goni Mohammad and Seidu Seriki
\nHamman sometimes in January, 2020 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the
\njurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, did
\nobtain 2 grams of gold at the rate of N26, 492,000.00 (Twenty Six
\nMillion Four Hundred and Ninety Two Thousand Naira) allegedly belonging
\nto the wife of the former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan under
\nthe false pretence which you knew to be false and thereby committed an
\noffence contrary to Section 1(1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other
\nFraud Related Offences Act 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the
\nsame Act.”<\/p>\n

The defendants pleaded ‘not guilty’ when the two counts were read to
\nthem.<\/p>\n

Justice Kumaliya thereafter adjourned the matter to\u00a0 \u00a0May,\u00a0 25 & 26,
\n2022 for hearing and ordered for the remand of the defendants in a
\nCorrectional Centre.<\/p>\n

In the same vein,\u00a0 the Maiduguri Zonal Command on Thursday May 19,
\n2022, re-arraigned\u00a0 Mamman Alhaji Jalomi before Justice Musa Mustapha of
\nBorno State High Court, Maiduguri, on one count charge bordering on
\ncriminal misappropriation to the tune of N693, 000.00 ( Six Hundred and
\nNinety Three Hundred Thousand Naira).<\/p>\n

The defendant allegedly fraudulently sold 33 bags of beans belonging to
\none Babagana Abdullahi and diverted the monies to his own personal use.<\/p>\n

The one count amended charge read: “That you Mamman Alhaji Jalomi
\nsometimes in the year 2020 or thereabouts, in Maiduguri Borno State
\nwithin the Jurisdiction of this Honorable Court dishonestly converted to
\nyour own use the sum of Six Hundred and Ninety Three Thousand Naira
\n(N693,000.00) only being proceeds from the sales of 33 bags of beans at
\nTwenty One Thousand Naira (N21,000.00) each belonging to one Babangida
\nAbdullahi and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable
\nunder Sections 308 and 309 of Penal Code Law Cap 102, Laws of Borno
\nState respectively.”<\/p>\n

The defendant pleaded ‘ not guilty’ to the charge preferred against him
\nby the EFCC, prompting prosecution\u00a0 counsel, Mukhtar Ali Ahmed to\u00a0 pray
\nfor a trial date.<\/p>\n

Justice Musa Mustapha adjourned the matter to\u00a0 June 9,\u00a0 2022 for trial
\nand ordered\u00a0 the remand of the defendant at the Maiduguri Medium
\nSecurity Custodial Centre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
