{"id":95432,"date":"2022-05-28T07:10:58","date_gmt":"2022-05-28T06:10:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=95432"},"modified":"2022-05-28T07:10:58","modified_gmt":"2022-05-28T06:10:58","slug":"breaking-apc-postpones-presidential-primary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/breaking-apc-postpones-presidential-primary\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: APC Postpones Presidential Primary"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1734048743416447389\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its presidential primary earlier slated for May 29\/30.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nBarr Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the party, announced this in a statement in the early hours of Saturday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nHe said the exercise will now hold between June 6, 7 and 8, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the Independent National Electoral Commission\u2019s extension of deadline for the submission of list of candidates by political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby postpones its special convention for presidential primary from Sunday, 29th \u2013 Monday, 30th of May, 2022 to Monday, 6th \u2013 Wednesday, 8th of June, 2022,\u201d the party said.<\/p>\n<p>INEC had extended the primaries deadline by six days after six days after meeting with the leadership of the 18 registered political parties at its headquarters in Abuja on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Inter Party Advisory Commission (IPAC) had asked for a week extension for political parties to conclude the conduct of their presidential conventions and primaries.<\/p>\n<p>IPAC chairman, Engr Yabagi Yusuf Sani had urged INEC to adjust its June 3rd timeline for the conduct of primaries.<\/p>\n<p>Sani said, \u201cI want to thank you for giving us the very official time to meet with you once again on the issue of how the parties can collaborate with you to ensure that we have a crisis-free election as we conduct our primaries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on INEC\u2019s decision, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said \u201cThe Commission has decided to allow the request of the political parties, since the six-day period does not conflict with the next scheduled activity which is the submission of the list of nominated candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced activities for its primaries.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its presidential primary earlier slated for May 29\/30.
